As representatives dive into the last three weeks of the 111th Congress, Jon Stewart looks at what both sides of the aisle have planned before the House is turned over to the GOP. On Wednesday night's "Daily Show," he lamented that while the Democrats finally feel they can pass legislation on things like health care for the 9/11 first responders, Republicans are giving new meaning to the phrase "audacity of nope."
Congress's lame duck session to-do list is lofty, including the immigration Dream Act, a repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell and the aforementioned 9/11 responders bill, but Republicans have made it clear that extending the Bush tax cuts is their priority.
Stewart also discussed President Obama's attempt to unite both parties in what has been called a "Slurpee Summit." Even though Republicans have said the discussion was effective, it has not remedied the stalemate in Congress.
So why exactly does Congress wait until after an election, when they have a mere three weeks to pass legislation, to try and get everything done? Stewart referred to it as the "sweet spot."
"It's kind of like that five-minute window after you have an orgasm, when you're finally not thinking about sex, and can get some work done," Stewart said. He continued with the sex analogy after that, saying the GOP was "not a legislative block, they're a legislative c**k block."

When a child is playing, if things don't go how they want they take the ball and go home. That child is suppose to evolve into an adult capable of analytical thinking, not just sound bites. Democrats need to stand up and tell Republican Senators that reducing the income level of tax cuts doesn't mean everyone isn't getting one. There is still a tax cut for all. This White House is lacking in its use of the bully pulpit and that includes the President and his Press Secretary Gibbs.Holding the business of the country hostage to tax cuts for all is a ridiculous point since the cuts would apply to all to the set income level!
